met up with roy, kah yan and charlotte on friday.
like what charlotte says, though we don't meet up often, but whenever we do, we just pick up from where we stopped. we're just so comfortable with each other, nothing's too awkward or embarrassing. well, like how roy and kah yan likes to remind, 9 years ok. that's a really long time.
thinking back, we had loads of fun in secondary school. secondary 1&2 we did dances for teachers' day. most memorable being in secondary two, where we wore matching baggy jeans and loud shirts and danced to s club's you're my number one. we even had matching headphones and nike waist pouches just for a class trip to malacca. britney, n'sync, backstreet boys, westlife, s club 7 and vitamin c ruled our MDs! can you even remember what that was?
those were the times of acting cool and fitting in. the girls had "feelers" (not sure if i spelt that right!), ie. they tie their hair back in a ponytail and let a bit of their fringe down. the guys had centre parting and huge Ms in front. the higher the better. mine, i never quite made it. hair too soft? but roy is guilty as charged. his M was quite huge. lol.
those outdoor backpacks, the tighter and higher, the cooler. skirts must be short, and shirts never tucked in. charlotte, roy and me will always remember going to her place to dye our hair just before school started. and we rushed back to school in a cab, just barely in time.
writing notes was also huge that time. very very huge. the day could go by and we'd write notes and letters to at least 5 people. better still, we sometimes did an IRC session where we'd all get a 'nick' and pass round the paper. i love those times.
me and charlotte used to talk a lot on the phone, much to my grandma's dismay. we'd talk about anything and everything. that's the nights. at school we not only sat so close (i was behind her), we also loved to pass notes. i think we had 4 years worth of conversation in that few months. we changed seats eventually, teacher's instructions.
secondary 3-4 were a time of sleeping in class, and splitting classes. kah yan went on to a better class while the 3 of us stayed together. somehow we drifted a little, but here we are today. who can forget the HUGE MASSIVE bubble tea craze?? we literally owned the hello singtel along orchard, the one next to hereen. that was our after school hangout and a different group everyday. teachers weren't fond of us at all. my chinese teacher once got so fed up, she screamed at me, "伟德睡够了没有!!" she was very pissed. my form teacher hated my class. wohoo!! secondary school rocks!
thinking back, i'm so thankful for these memories. at least now that i'm an old fart, we have lots to remember and talk about. like how guys talk about army, girls about boys, secondary mates will always talk about the good ol' times and how much fun we had. and cheers to that.
